Our School

Irving School is a learning community of students, staff, and parents dedicated to helping each child become an academically successful and a socially responsible citizen. Our community embraces families and students of many different cultures, nationalities, and economic backgrounds. Thus, we emphasize teaching and practicing respect, social equality, tolerance, understanding, and responsibility for oneself and others. We believe that all children have a right to learn in a physically and emotionally safe, nurturing environment, yet one in which growth and risk taking are encouraged because we know that wonder, excitement, and curiosity are the key components of learning. We also recognize that children learn at different rates and in different ways, and, therefore, must be challenged to learn at their optimal instructional level. To accomplish these goals, we encourage a variety of effective staff, parent, and community partnerships and a variety of flexible classroom arrangements.
